14-11-13' UOL
Into year 2 and I'm spending 4/7 days a week in school.
I realised the vast difference in the attitudes of lecturers.
Some says part time students are a bad lot who pulls the passing rate down. A group without motivation and gives excuses for not attending class, handing up assignments, zoning out during lectures. All these, attributes to poor self discipline, which I agree.
Some lecturers, on the contrary, likes part time students more. They sympathize with the workload the students have and therefore make exceptions for them, e.g open book tests, deferment for assignments.
I have my OTIA lecturer belonging to the first. A great teacher who will go all out to help students to cope with exams. As much as he is harsh on part time students, he could be working on reversed psychology to make us study harder.
My Intro to Econs, Macro Econs lecturers go to the second group. They are encouraging and nurturing. They might not noticed but their words help to make our efforts appreciated.
Well, if one could choose, who would not chose to study full time? If one could choose to only focus on study, who would want to shuttle between workplace and school? We are trying to make ourselves a better person at a less favorable starting point.
