29-05-07` settlers' with jing and ying

realised i was able to spend 2 hours on my bed idling. from 12am to 2am. basically changing my sleeping pattern in attempt to.. sleep. thats the consequence of napping too much in the day.

i guess a workaholic life is more suitable for me.

the story of my house little lizard continues - while it was at its regular 'hang out' during the night time, i towered over it and open my windows wide. the exit is just less than a menter away. *light to freedom - aliluyah! i wondered if it had successfully gain its way to the 'wild'.

because of various reasons, both ying and jing took cab down for settlers'. pang of guilt. blame me for not being a good organiser.

something new this time round! the loser of the game will have to wear the shrek's ears as a forfeit! well.. jing only lost once while me and ying spilt the losing shares. lady luck just aren't on our side or rather we are dumb at games? may it be in terms of reflex, luck, mental or memory. more games were explored, some of which we fumbled and made rules out of our own. modifications u can call it. LOL.

tried the stimulator game i missed the previous round with hky and lpq at the arcade. perhaps its the course which i had chosen 'toy coaster' (or similiar), i laughed my waaayyyy through the entire game instead of feeling scared. the background and the contrast to the vibrations and effects simply gives the 'this-is-so-lame' signal to my brain. hysterical!

the ball shooting game is FUN! we managed to hit our own highscore of 140+ by the combinaion of 3 girls!

i need to brush up on my ddr. my legs are getting stiffer from the gravitation force of my weight. agility -. vowed to go back there one day for intensive training.

my right eye is doing pretty fine now except that the ban from contacts will not be lifted until 2 weeks later.

thing haven't been going on well for me. cursed? i need to voodoo to vent my frustrations!

28-05-07` eye infection

excruciating pain - spontaneous and sharp. hurts even i closed my eyes. any movement of the eyeball triggers the pain stimulus. felt that there was an open wound around my pupil region.

called up the optometrist again. she advised me to see the the doctor. a GP or preferrably an eye specialist. but its hard to find a doctor on a sunday after 7pm, let alone for a specialist.

found one within my estate. its a 'special' clinic in the sense that the assistant will ask you to read up the rules and regulations. despite my bad vision, i read. and i understand the purpose of this coercion - "conversation must be made in mandarin or dialects, any degratory remarks upon mandarin will not be tolerated." and "the clinic does not service to people with 'customer-is-king' attitude. on the contrary, patients who cannot afford treatment, will recieve it free upon request".

i was given medications and an eye drop.

was advised to stay away from eye straining activities like using computers and watching tv. hence, i was bed-ridden. listening to music then force myself to bed.

my vision gradually recover by the next day. but it still hurts occassionally when i blink/ tear / rotate my eyeball. sigh..

sudden vulnerability of losing my eye sight. one would yearn for some care from people close to her heart for a moment like this.

27-05-07` eye infection

darn. right eye vision gets terribly poor. thought something got into my right eye (probably an eyelash) that caused the irritation. bought an eye wash, however , pain and poor vision persist after application.

panicked and sought help from my optometrist.

BAD.

eye infections. banned from contact lenses for 3 weeks. :(

26-05-07` outing with ying 2

i was struggling hard to spend my day at home for the fact thats its awkward to keep imposing on my friends to keep this lonely girl occupied.

i was tossing around on my bed, psycho-ing myself to sleep. it failed.

got a call from ying while i was watching anime. GREAT NEWS! haas, finally no more rotting!

went to pearl center for ying's cd. the days at HPB had served me well with the directions. lucky.


to satisfy ying's obssession of taking neoprints and me buying masks, we headed to heeren after that. it was again, another big damage to our pockets. ladies just cant keep their hands off their wallets, especially with the annual GSS (great s'pore sales) going on.

shampoo by 'sheseido'. shampoo and conditioner for me, serum for ying. if u're wondering, the conditioner is not on display because it looks 95% alike except for the back label with the word conditioner.

wanted to walk down to PS to wait for jing to knock off if she's working there. we were deciding whether to do so at the middle of the road towards either PS or far east - where we'll take a bus home. i couldn't get through her mobile and i called wei der to ask if jing is working. LOL. its quite absurd of that idea. jing, i am sorry if the call had caused disturbance to either of you.

25-05-07` house lizard

i have been staying with this lizard with my room for the past few days. it is one young, active baby which appears at certain places at specific timings. the first time i saw it i was freaked out. it was moving at high speed across my walls. to explain the blur picture, i stood at a distant and 'captured' him using my camera phone. the second one was much better becos it was taken in a shorter proximal and a stronger flash.

nevertheless, i would try to open my windows wider to enhance its escape to the wild. well.. before it died under my feet or crawl inside my lighting and gets eletricuted by my fluoroscent tube (happens many times before).

22-05-07` year 3 semester 2 results released

its the fateful tuesday - mary said the results will be released then.

i realised a phenomenon. all my semester 2s were disasters compared to semester 1s. perhaps i can concentrate only in the later part of the year? excuse, excuses~

my GPA went up by difference in the second decimal place.

didn't manage to hit what i wanted to achieve. blahs!

as a sidenote, i have been trying hard to upload the pictures to the previous previous post by editing but it seems like an error will occur. hence, here are some photos!

the cut. effects differ after washing and days after washing. *i look sleepy! notice the background is yellow instead of peach? was surprised by it as well. figured out that its the yellow-orange fluoroscent light that caused the change.

21-05-07` settlers' with lpq, hky

lpq, hky and i went settlers' cafe today!

hky is ga-ga over the Mc shrek's hairband! she wanted to get 2 but the evil lingy stopped her from the charity (simply because she needs to save herself first from poverty).

as guided by the previous trip, i followed roughly the same route. that is go to a bus stop which has bus 12 and to katong's settlers' branch. was deciding upon branch clark quay and katong but in the last few moments before meeting up, fret that it was packed, i looked upon the website to check for the tele nos. of clark quay in order to make any reservations / vacancies available. it was only then i found out that monday (which is today) happens to be its off day. so ta-da~, no choice but to katong.

the journey was long and the sun was BLAZING hot. we missed 2 buses because of our stupidity. since bus 12 and 32 both goes to settlers', we were figuring if they happen to stop at the same bus stop. while checking out at the bus stop of 32, we missed a bus 12; while we were looking at details of bus 12, we missed bus 32. tough luck eh!

lpq was waiting there for years!

finally.. at settlers', we took up the students package. $6 / pax, 2 - 6pm (we started at 3 plus), free flow of drinks of the day and games.

these are the games we played:

Reflex

players were given a stack of cards. each player is to open one card and place it in the center. if two cards of the same picture (jam / peanut butter) were to appear one after another, the first person who slammed her hand on the cards and called out 'double-decker' will collect all of the cards at the center; the same goes for the cards of the same picture with a different one in the middle as 'sandwich'. a card with a picture of a thief will requires us to shout 'catch thief'. i presume all of us had equally poor synaronising skills, thereby it had the 'monopoly' syndrome whereby its never-ending. at the end of the day, we had red palms and lots of attention of others from the slamming of tables.

Zug and Tag (something liddat)

the game consist of a map of US, like New York, Chicago, New Orleans, etc. the tickets shows the link between the places and the tracks are colour cooded. the players are supposed to travel from one place to another by building railways drawing 2 colour codes from either of the 4 stacks. if the track has been used by a player, even if the rail connects u to the place u desired, it cannot be used again.

rather a complicated game. but hky loves it! i was yawning partly because i was lagging behind. haha

Taboo

each were given a card and describe the term etc without using the 'special related' words indicated. hahas, but the no-rules gang (us) seems to translate some of the forbidden words into mandarin. the excellent answer of all times - lpq:"this describes hky.", i gave an immediate ans "LAZY" and BINGO!!! it was lazy! so we know how is hky like to us. the most important / identifying trait!

Uglydoll

the cards are of pictures of cute monsters! and i mean real cute! (pictures as evidence). the cards are turned with the pictures of various monsters down on the table. the cards are laid on the table and given a 'clean shuffle' (that is the mahjiong style). each player is supposed to flip a card at a time and once 3 cards of the same monsters appear (they look alike, if u had notice!), the person who spotted it and slam / grab the cards on the table will take it. if she is not quick enough to collect all 3, other players are open to 'snatch' the card by slamming, grabbing etc. i tried feiging the slamming action in several occasion and the rest kena tricked! wahaha! a very fierce game that is potentially damaging to friendships! LOL

Lobo 77

each players holds 4 cards and 3 tokens. the rule of thumb here is - the numbers of the cards toll up after rounds by each player cannot exceed 77. the last one who place a card that exceeds 77 kenna 'BOMBED!' and loses her 3 tokens to the previous player. the player who had the numbers added to the mutiples of 11 (e.g. 11, 22, 33, 44 etc) loses one token to the previous player (a rule which we totally forgotten until very much of the game when hky 'caught' me red-handed). a player is considered lost when her credits go beyond the negatives. the numbers includes 0, 2, 5, 10, 44, 66, 76, -10 etc, and power cards like reverse, x2 (the next player has to draw 2 cards and place 2 cards with them added to the center lot) quite a mental game which requires the help of the lady luck. our dear hky goes negative 22! LOL. she swore to get her revenge the next time! hence its marked as a 'must-play' for our next visit.

the legendary lobo77!

the deadly 76. because whichever card u place after that gets u 'BOMBED!" sadly, hky didn't get the chance to put this card to good use because she will get herself 'grilled' first before killing others.

we had the famous katong laksa for dinner. hky insist on goin to the one with most pictures taken with celebrities (one with martin yan). well.. ifs nice :)

headed to parkway parade. settlers and parkway is only separated by a roxy plaza! definately a shorter and more convenient route! over at the timezone, lpq and hky played a stimulator kind of ride, the one with vibrations and banging everywhere with a screen infront. the best thing of all is its price - $3 for 2 person! they survived without vomiting the laksa. haas. i'll give it a go the next time!

done my red highlights! its a more improvised material hence, no need to bleach. straits of dull reddish maroon. it'll turn to orange and fades to brown.

finished up the dental notice board in school. collected my op tech models. the Ar turned colour. looking back, the quality of work isnt too bad IF u don't consider the contact points - which are absent due to my practice of clearing overhangs with the floss up straight. well.. those were the days.

collected the shoes i ordered from gojane. the organiser is yet the best i've ever entercounted. contrast to the previous experience of buying shoes from sprees, this pair comes abit loose. it can be done with some help of the anti-slip / sole.

am i happy? =/

17-05-07` NDC makeup lesson

paired up with yas for the makeup lesson. my first patient PFA - the first PFA case yas ever encountered ever since his makeups. wahahaha! i did bring him some luck / rest eh.

The attitude towards clinicals is totally different. it feels like a big thing off your mind with the trust and confidence the supervisors given in you - by not checking the probings etc! SHIOK! finally a competent clinician :)

i like the people who were doing the makeup today! mary, ruth, leen, yq, yas. we discussed about prom.. and managed to ask Dr Hema for a tiny subsidy. whew~ $80 -> 65! BIG discount :)

after sending the SOS msg to gather my courage for the haircut, both of my besties responded!

yupps, i headed down to the salon after my attachment, with ying.

its layered and more layered. hmms.. a slight similarity to the style i had when i just enrolled in poly. the punky one (except that its not that spikey on the top). well, i figured out that the top feels / looks like a mushroom, but the ends are thin. i like the way it moves with the wind! wheeeeeee!

hitting down straight on my 'to-do' list. *bang! 2 more to go!

16-05-07` NDC make up tml

youtube is the source of entertainment. animes of old times and new generations - sailormoon R; S, Ranma 1/2 to Tsubasa Chronicles, Keroro Gunso. hate it when net goes laggy (the digits of the connection meter barely jumps); monitor goes sot with auto adjustment to brightness max, reluctance to remove the 'brightness level indicator' on the centre of the screen (highly irritatble). the poor LCD screen is screaming 'SOS', yet there isn't much i can do with its warranty expired.

went back school on tues to do up the dental notice board as promised in year 2. other than the formalities 'thank you', another statement which etched my mind is 'i'm glad you fulfilled your promise because many said but did not attempt to fulfill it'. it sets a quesy feeling. though it is true, i do not like the way it is phrased. its awkward when people passed by and give curious looks. ESP the board is next to the GENTS where all gentlemen goes in and out to settle their businesses. at the same time it appears that i am a total pervert who tries to peep in.

i agreed to myself mentally that i will get a change outta my boring life while i am still able to (before pretending to be a holy, law-bidding, role model of many innocent souls of a primary school). that is, have a 'punk' hairstyle; dye my hair black with fringe in red (KIV); 3 ear holes - 2 on the right and one on the left. yupps, its a lil extreme.

faced a dilemma on whether i should cut my hair. fear that it was un-achievable because of the rebonded quality as stated by a previous stylist. in another part of my mind is balancing the risk of leaving my comfort zone. in the end i was beaten by the lazy bug and decided to stay at home and rot instead. the reason being, i have NDC attachment tml, better go rest up before a tedious day. BLAHS!

hair colour change is more or less confirmed as the appointment with the stylist has already been made. arrr~ at least one out of three.

it was hky and lpq who inspired me to pierce my ears. they have been nagging me to 'JUST DO IT' since.. many years back? i wondered if they might do what they conspired - to drag me to a jewellery shop on my birthday and get it settled once and for all. i do have phobia towards the pain and sound involved in the process. when jing went for her ear piercing, it was ME who 'AR!' when the 'shot' was done. i gathered its 80% that i would go for it but i certainly need the moral support of my dears.

i shall conclude i am a scardy cat in many aspects. haha.

14-05-07` sakae buffet

craving for midnight prata! i like eating out in the early mornings or late nights. a luxury form of relaxation. dragged ying to the 24 hrs prata stall near my house after her work (that is 12am when she reached sgoon). coincidentally, she brought her barang barang along so yupp, she stayed over at my place after prata :)

we didn't realised until we saw the time at the corner of my monitor, stating 4am. how powerful girlie talks can be!

met up the girls to do up joe's card. after going 3 rounds bout the restuarants of the fountain of wealth, we still can't decide on what to eat. finally jing came up with a splendid idea- each person give a number. toll up the numbers and we shall eat at that particular restuarant where the number stops at. we've gotten '11' but in the end we ate at '15' N.Y.D.C - with the loads of excuses for skipping number 11, 12, 13, 14. thats how indecisive women can be! well, no regrets, the mushroom ham oven baked rice is yummmmy!

the next day met up with hky, tww, lpq to distribute strapya items. it had been with me for ages. SAKAE buffet! awww.. a service crew had been particularly nice and polite that made us wrote a complimentary feedback for her!

BUT 'evil' hky added the suggestion 'it would be good if the staff goes for regular dental visits.' (because we detected upper incisors interproximal caries and halitosis in another staff - due to our occupational influence) , and comment '..over-frozen leading to ice crystals in ice cream' (because her ice cream is HARD inside with the frozen portion).

well, we are truly s'poreans!

shall draw out another outing before hky complains that i don't go out with her!

10-05-07` joe's present

was helping at 'F&C' restuarant. the 2 days were hectic. made a few blunders (as usual). its a nice environment to be working in except the part when u are newbie and the pros 'guide' you in a harsh manner, hoping you will catch the rope faster. due to several limitations, i cant stay for long. well, i'm not the cut for f&b industry i think, since i have problems even to serve 6 glasses of water on a hand. :p

a movie for me and jing! 'Bridge to Terabithia'. saw the ratings in Flixster as 4/5. the version produced in 1975 even gotten a 4.5/5! BUT.. this is the big thing, the ratings arent reliable. its flimed in an 'Old English' style that isn't that 'understanding-friendly' with regards to both visual and audio aspects. with certain words and phrases mentally skipped, we cant exactly catch the meaning. jing goes 'ehhs, its quite boring huh' and me 'the girl can be a model' - anything besides concentrating with the utmost ounce of our brain juice to figure out the plot.

as vowed by jing, ying and myself, we wanted (or rather, have to) get something better for joe this year. he had been sacrificing all these years buying us presents without having any back! (while his 'gay' partner cum best friend, tuck wei happily collect his loots on his special occasion.) this year we gotten tuck wei an adidas tee so anything better than that would just mean a big hole burned in our pockets. in addition for the fact that its gonna be divided by us the 3 masketters, with miao in China. i am proud to say we did pretty well in achieving that aim, hmms.. what else can he complain _____________!? lols. (*details censored due to joe's reading. sorry for any inconvenience caused)

01-05-07` celebrate jing and tuck wei birthday

celebrated the belated birthday of jing and tuck wei on the labour day!

we went to settlers' cafe at clark quay and its full house all the way until 9pm. but a contrast to the clark quay branch, katong is empty! so we moved over to katong on bus 12 (which tuck wei, the leader ain't sure of the location himself)

At settlers we played:

finding item from the card you drew on the board given. its the battle of the sexes between xuelin and suanjie! the rest are just, ermms.. audience?

Pictionary
more developed kinda pictionary including drawing with your eyes closed, drawing on a member's back to navigate him to draw on the board, holding on member's wrist and guide him to draw, giving shapes and lines by another member to draw, body sculpturing.
we had bull's eye for body sculpturing (compliments to xuelin and jing), while drawing on people's back is tough! drawing ashtray with eyes closed and guessing its ASHTRAY is difficult too! all thanks to the spontaneous response from all members (the ladies and JOE) as well as a little luck to top in the game.
its fun :)

we separated into 2 groups and proceed on with our games. (its hard to find games that accommodate 12 players)
as highly recommended by miao, we tried the game :)
the overall idea is to place cards (with description of a gift e.g. home theatre system, boob jobs, etc) on the board, guess who will like which 'gift'. the first who reach the goal point of both 'giver' and 'given' wins!
xuelin won while me and ying were the last 2! (OMG! and we were the ones who chose jing's present!)

we actually came up with a number in order to let the birthday girl have the forfeit! for the first round, but not the second. sorry jing if u read this. i didnt know if we had given ourselves away while we were trying to hoax u into the game. but judging from ur reactions, it seems like we did pretty well on our acting *grins. B UT BUT BUT.. the 'belated' birthday girl was in luck! she managed to escape the forfeit and me and miao kenna the forfeit - to dance and confess with tuck wei respectively. the moral of the story is, just like in the drama series, the bad guys never win!

the staff had been really nice to guide us through the games, especially the one wearing specs whom i called he moderator of 'pictionary'.

Since its only $11 per pax, guess we shall hit down settlers' more often right girls?

the sabo-ing between me and joe makes the environment between us awkward. he's a shy boy, we shall put it as a stop yea? :)

the day ended with a supper at a HK dim sum near by.

i couldnt sleep until late nights due to my altered body clock so i missed the chance to see miao off at the airport! *guilt. alcohol is known for its 'sleeping effects'. next time, i should put my vodka to good use. :)
